How can I help end steptember?
We don't want you to raise money for service providers by reinforcing ableism and negative stereotypes.
Instead, we'd like you to take a different set of 'steps'.
1. Make a difference by challenging barriers to access. Be aware that if you can climb steps to a workplace or a restaurant, others might not be able to. Ask the restaurant owner or employer when they will be installing an accessible toilet or equitable access to their premises.
2. Send an message to the Cerebral Palsy Alliance telling them why they involve people with disability in their fundraising campaign and to stop portraying negative stereotypes. You can fill in an online form by clicking here.
3. Most wheelchair users won't be able to 'step up' for this campaign, so we might as well laugh about it. Take part in our #endsteptember campaign by taking a photograph of you 'not stepping' and send it to us by clicking here or by uploading to the Facebook page at Endsteptember. The edgier and more subversive, the better. Plankers, people who 'choose not to step' and people with other disabilities welcome.
Please use the hashtags #steptember and #cerebralpalsy.
